Corrections
A reference is only as good as its willingness to be corrected. This page explains how to report an error and what happens next.
Plate I
Report an error
Found a factual error, a broken source link, or a claim whose status seems too strong? Write to [email protected] with the page, the claim, and if possible a source. Every substantiated report gets a response.
Plate II
How claims are labeled
Documented: supported by at least two independent sources, or by a primary document. Interpretation: a reading that is widely given but not defined in primary sources. Oral tradition: testimony or received account without contemporary documents. Unproven: a circulating claim that failed verification; we publish it as such rather than repeating it as fact.
Plate III
The correction log
Substantive corrections, anything that changes a claim, a date or a status, are listed here with their date. Wording fixes and typos are not logged.
